Control Resonant reaches a million sales as Remedy targets a wider audience

Control Resonant passed one million copies sold on October 15, becoming Remedy Entertainment’s fastest-selling game, according to PC Gamer’s November 3 report on the developer’s latest financial results. The launch also helped lift the Finnish studio’s third-quarter revenue to more than three times its level a year earlier.

Remedy attributed that revenue increase to preorders and launch sales. Only the game’s first seven days of sales were included in the quarterly figures, giving the initial launch period a significant role in the reported improvement.

A broader audience for Control

Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon said close to half of Resonant’s players were newcomers to Control. He described expanding the audience as a key objective for the sequel, alongside the significance of self-publishing a game of this scale using the company’s own intellectual property.

That player mix is a useful measure alongside the sales milestone: it suggests the sequel’s audience extends beyond returning Control players. It does not, by itself, establish how sales will develop after launch.

Longer-term sales remain the focus

Gaudechon said Remedy’s immediate priority was reaching more prospective players, with marketing spending guided by a clear return. He pointed to player reviews, reach across target markets and outstanding wishlists as reasons for confidence in the game’s longer-term sales potential.

The revenue improvement nevertheless came with a thin quarterly operating profit margin, PC Gamer reported. Gaudechon also said other projects remained in development and stressed that sales during the rest of the year would determine Remedy’s full-year 2026 financial outcome. The launch milestone therefore provides an encouraging starting point, while the company’s own outlook keeps attention on sustained demand.
