Honeycomb pauses Xbox flight controller orders while Flight Simulator profiles await release

Original article image from Notebookcheck

Honeycomb has withdrawn early purchase links for its Echo Aviation Controller XPC after sending them to some US reservation holders, according to Notebookcheck’s October 29 report. The officially licensed Xbox controller, which also supports PC, remains targeted for a November 20 release.

The interruption concerns the controller’s software setup. Honeycomb told affected customers that its ready-made Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 profiles were not yet available through the game’s Marketplace. The company said it wanted to avoid customers receiving the controller and having to configure everything themselves.

Reservation holders keep their place

Notebookcheck based its account on two emails shared by a reader who had reserved the controller. The first offered a unit for $179.99 and gave the recipient until October 29 at 9:46 PM UTC to complete the purchase.

A subsequent message disabled that purchase link. According to the report, affected customers return to the waiting list while retaining their original position. Honeycomb says it will send replacement purchase links once the profiles become available.

Early delivery remains a possibility

Honeycomb told customers it remained on track for November 20, while suggesting early reservation holders could receive their controllers before that date. That leaves early delivery as a possibility rather than a confirmed shipping commitment.

Reservations are currently limited to the US, with other regions set to follow from November 20, Notebookcheck reports.

For Xbox and PC flight simulation players, the practical distinction is between a purchase invitation and a completed launch: the withdrawn emails do not establish an earlier release date. The availability of the promised profiles remains the next milestone for customers awaiting fresh order links.
