A survey of 1,347 American gamers offers a snapshot of how respondents weigh early access to Grand Theft Auto 6 against parts of their personal lives. Alongside some provocative hypothetical trade-offs, the results point to interest in sharing the game with a partner.
According to IGN’s report on the Unwind Media survey, 7% of respondents said they would give up their pet for a month in exchange for playing GTA 6 one week early. Among respondents who had preordered the game, that figure was 13%.
Hypothetical sacrifices for early access
The survey also asked about giving up intimacy. IGN reports that 21% would make that trade for a week’s early access, including 25% of female respondents and 19% of male respondents.
Those answers describe what participants said they would be willing to do. They do not establish that anyone has actually surrendered a pet or made another sacrifice to obtain the game. The distinction matters when interpreting the survey’s more attention-grabbing findings.
Playing together draws broader support
A separate finding suggests GTA 6 could also feature in couples’ gaming plans. According to the report, 53% of participants said they planned to play with their partner. The reported breakdown was 71% among women and 39% among men.
IGN also reports that 8% considered the game’s relationship mechanic to be cheating. That result offers a counterpoint to the concerns described in its coverage, though the survey alone cannot establish how players will respond once they experience the game.
For console players following GTA 6, these results are a look at audience expectations and stated intentions, rather than evidence about gameplay quality or how relationships will be affected.
