Football Manager 27 will give managers a way to adjust several tactical settings with one button through its Tactical Tweaks feature, according to Sports Interactive senior features manager Ant Farley. In an Xbox Wire interview published October 28, Farley explained how the system fits into the studio’s efforts to make its football simulation more approachable.
Rather than requiring players to work through multiple menus during a match, Tactical Tweaks applies a group of changes from the touchline. Farley said the feature was developed following conversations with football professionals, with the aim of conveying a manager’s ability to issue instructions during play.
Choosing how much to manage
Farley also highlighted staff delegation as a way for newcomers to control the scope of their responsibilities. Players interested in transfers can leave training to staff, for example, while those who prefer a narrower role can concentrate on tactics and matches.
That flexibility matters because the simulation covers duties beyond matchday, including recruitment, training, finances and budgets. Delegation offers a practical starting point for learning those systems gradually.
PC and console take different approaches
According to Farley, the PC and console editions share a core experience, but the console version is more streamlined and moves at a faster pace. Its pivotal moments feature brings consequential player choices to the foreground, while some information presented numerically on PC is communicated more visually on console.
The PC edition adds options governing what happens when players press Continue, allowing quicker progress or a more comprehensive journey through events beyond their club. Xbox Wire says both versions will be available through Game Pass.
Farley’s advice for first-time managers is to allow time for progress: even sound decisions can end in defeat, and learning how a team responds is part of the appeal.
