WoW: Forever beta changes target class strengths and controller play

Original article image from Destructoid

World of Warcraft: Forever’s November 3 beta update combines class tuning with controller options and changes aimed at busy starting areas, according to Destructoid’s report on the patch notes. Its coverage describes a shift away from keeping classes within Classic-era power limits, with greater emphasis on their individual strengths.

Destructoid attributes that explanation to Blizzard community manager Kaivax, who said earlier restrictions had weakened recognizable abilities and constrained other design possibilities. The stated goal is for each class to contribute something valuable to a group, rather than achieve identical numerical results.

Class changes bring tradeoffs

The report lists increased damage across classes alongside higher creature health. That combination means the damage adjustments alone do not establish how much easier encounters will become.

Specific changes include a 40% increase to Starfire’s base damage for Druids and access to Righteous Fury at level 10 for Paladins. Hunters’ traps share a 30-second cooldown, while Rogues gain Shank and several associated talents.

The update also includes reductions and removals. Destructoid lists lower Warlock pet health gained per point of Stamina, the removal of Feral Druids’ Berserk, and changes to multiple Mage talents. The overall direction therefore includes substantial revisions beyond straightforward damage increases.

Controller options and leveling adjustments

Destructoid also reports full controller compatibility, with customization through Edit Mode and the Options menu. Its account lists fixes involving gamepad navigation, inventory, combat, action bars and interaction with keyboard and mouse controls.

For leveling, the report describes faster respawns in starting zones, tapering as players advance, with the temporary adjustment intended to ease once the initial surge subsides. Bags also require manual placement into a chosen equipment slot. Together, these changes address both character setup and the practical demands of crowded early areas.
