Switch 2 modding is moving into experimental PC emulation, with Eglantine offering builds that its developers say can run Mario Kart World at full speed on suitable hardware. Wccftech reported on October 31, 2026 that the project follows a Switch 2 jailbreak disclosed just over a week earlier.
The performance claim comes from the emulator’s makers, rather than independent testing presented here. Wccftech also reports that Splatoon Raiders is playable, although its frame rate varies. Those results describe individual games and should not be read as confirmation that the wider Switch 2 library works reliably.
From experimental integration to separate builds
According to Wccftech, modder Takoroka released experimental Switch 2 support for the Eden emulator. Eglantine builds on that Eden NX2 work, providing its own builds of the developing emulator.
The project’s GitHub description, reproduced in the report, identifies Eglantine as free and open-source software started by developer Camille LaVey. It describes a code lineage through Eden, Yuzu and Sudachi, with C++ development and builds for Windows, Linux and macOS.
Rendering gaps remain
There are substantial qualifications behind the early demonstrations. Wccftech says Takoroka has warned that the software needs many fixes, including missing meshes caused by shaders that have not yet been implemented. Broader compatibility, accurate rendering and consistent performance remain unresolved.
For people following the Switch 2 jailbreak and homebrew scene, the development offers an early look at what experimental software can achieve. The practical distinction is between getting a game running and delivering a dependable emulator: the reported progress supports the former, while the acknowledged limitations leave the latter an open question.
