PlayStation’s Prism accessories pair transparent finishes with a February 2027 launch
PlayStation is bringing transparent styling to DualSense controllers and PS5 console covers with its Prism Collection, announced on October 28, 2026. The range includes Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray, with a rollout scheduled to begin on February 4, 2027.
In its official collection spotlight, PlayStation describes a design project intended to reveal more of the construction behind its accessories. Both the controllers and matching console covers use transparent materials with a glossy finish.
A closer look at the design
Leo Cardoso, part of PlayStation’s Color, Material, and Finish design team, says the project draws on the transparent-controller trend of the late 1990s while adapting it to the PS5’s design.
Fellow designer Satoshi Aoyagi explains that the controller’s clear finish continues across its back, exposing internal technology. A metallic middle cover adds a contrasting surface. The colors also respond differently to the material: overlapping orange sections take on a rosy tint, while the green gains depth through its transparency.
Pricing and preorder details
PlayStation lists a US recommended retail price of $84.99 for the Prism DualSense controllers and $74.99 for the matching PS5 covers. Controller availability is planned globally. The covers will be sold through PlayStation’s direct store in supported markets, with limited quantities reaching selected retailers in other regions.
Preorders begin November 10, 2026. US orders through PlayStation’s direct store open at 7am PT / 10am ET; participating European direct-store markets open at 10am local time. PlayStation cautions that launch dates, availability and retailer prices can vary by market.
For players coordinating the appearance of a setup, the collection’s main appeal is the shared finish across controller and console cover.
