Eden-NX2 Puts Experimental Switch 2 Emulation on Windows, With Major Gaps

Original article image from Google News · Switch 2 jailbreak and modding

Switch 2 emulation on Windows has an experimental foothold, according to TechEBlog’s October 31 report. Eden-NX2, a pre-release fork attributed to developer Takoroka, appeared on October 29 with early support for the console’s software. The reported results come with substantial compatibility and performance caveats.

TechEBlog says Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza can start and progress through their opening sections. That is a limited milestone: the report describes stuttering, inconsistent speed and graphical problems, rather than evidence of dependable play across either game.

Missing graphics remain a significant obstacle

According to the report, Takoroka acknowledges that unfinished shader support causes some meshes to disappear. Online performance accounts also differ, making it premature to draw a firm conclusion about how well the emulator runs. Booting a game and sustaining a complete, stable playthrough are separate measures of progress.

The reported Windows requirements include 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a Vulkan-capable graphics card with at least 8GB of video memory, and 16GB of system RAM. Testing has reportedly been limited to Windows, although source code is available for adaptation to other systems.

A separate development from the reported jailbreak

Eden-NX2 arrives amid wider Switch 2 modding activity. TechEBlog places its appearance roughly a week after Sammy Hajhamid, known online as pepsipu, demonstrated the ns2jb exploit on firmware 23.0.1. The article describes an apparent connection to SmileBASIC 4 and says the access does not survive a reboot.

The emulator is a distinct project, however. TechEBlog reports that it includes neither games nor firmware and that mainline Eden releases do not yet support Switch 2. For readers following homebrew and emulation, the practical takeaway is an early compatibility experiment with considerable work still ahead.
