Ocarina of Time foil-cover preorders run out at Amazon, other retailers retain stock

Amazon has exhausted its textured foil-cover bonus for physical preorders of the Nintendo Switch 2 remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, according to Notebookcheck’s October 31 report. Other retailers still listed the special packaging at the time of reporting, leaving collectors with alternatives ahead of the reported November 5 release.

Notebookcheck says Amazon’s notice indicates the bonus will not be restocked and that purchases after launch will receive standard packaging. Whether additional boxed copies will become available through Amazon before release remains unclear. Existing orders that secured the bonus are reportedly unaffected.

Availability differs between retailers

At the time Notebookcheck checked, Walmart listed the game in stock with a $10 discount, while Best Buy offered it at $69.99. Those listings represent a snapshot of availability: the report says the title has repeatedly sold out, and returning stock may not include the foil cover.

The total number of special covers was not disclosed. Notebookcheck describes packaging that reflects different colors as it moves under light, with a slightly raised texture on its surface. The collectible element is the physical presentation accompanying the game.

Regional bonuses vary

According to the report, the foil cover is often the only preorder extra available to U.S. customers. Elsewhere, EB Games Canada offers a retro-inspired, double-sided slipcover, while France’s Micromania is running a drawing for 5,000 replica Nintendo 64 boxes.

For collectors, the practical distinction is between securing a physical copy and securing its particular bonus. A retailer showing the game in stock does not necessarily establish that the limited packaging is included; the offer attached to that listing matters.
